Simple question for those who have played NCAA this year. 20 hours in preseason and 3 hours per week of scouting - Too Little? Just Right? Too Much? What's your opinion? Additionally, if you feel like posting some ideas on how this aspect could be done better, I'd love to hear it. I will try to get one of the bigwigs to pass the info along to the EA sports devs if they deem it relevant.
I think the 20hr in the preseason is good, but maybe 4 hours scouting during the week... or additional scouting time during BYE weeks would be good.
I think it would be better to pick which attributes you want unlocked. I dont want to know what the run blocking rating is for a HB.
It's funny you mentioned that, because that's what I was going to propose. Leave it as-is, but give people double the scouting time on a bye week. 20 hrs preseason 3 hrs/week 6 hrs/week on a bye
I actually really like that idea. I also would like to see the ratings not be 100% unlocked right away, and not always accurate, but that would create a need for more time and I have a feeling there are a ton of people who already feel like recruiting takes too long with the current model. I love recruiting for the most part though, so I'm probably a bit bias.
Doubling the bye Week time sounds good. Personally I think it should be 10 a week, but you should be recruiting a 3 to 4 year database. I mean Top tier programs in the game allow you to sign most guys well before the off season if you stay on top of it. Increasing the database to scout future prospects would give the game a more realistic feel. If you did this though I believe that each year a player you scout moves up, you should have to re-scout the player because people improve and falter. But being able to begin each season with your own board based on scouting, prior to the prospects senior seasons, would be great and make those seasons where you already have your board scouted by week 10 still useful, as far as scouting goes.
I like the idea of extra scouting time for your bye weeks. I have scouted anywhere from 10 to 22 guys needed to fill my seniors leaving. Never have I not had my scouting complete on my targets before the end of the season. And I usually have at least another 5+ guys on the list in case of any early departures. So, I think the overall amount of time we get is plenty, but that also depends on the number of athletes on your board. Those guys are a pain in the ass.
